Morse code uses dots (.) and dashes (–). A dot is one unit of time, a dash is three units. Within a letter, dots and dashes are separated by one unit of silence; between letters, three units; between words, seven units.

Start with the most common letters (E, T, A, O, N, I) and expand gradually to the full alphabet. The audio playback in this tool is a great way to internalize the timing pattern of each character.
